When you combine a downtown setting with incredible floral designs, good things happen…really good things like Katie and Peter’s garden-themed wedding at PointView Hall. Today’s feature comes with no shortage of gorgeous blooms and city views. Their day started with a hand-fasting ceremony in Katie’s hometown church, where her two sisters were also married. From there, Sky’s the Limit Photography photographed the two love birds in the city with some very Pittsburgh but still totally epic shots before heading to the Carnegie Science Center’s newest event space for their reception. It was there that Mocha Rose Floral and Event Design made the couple’s vision of an elegant spring-time affair a reality. Suspended floral installations provided a garden-like oasis in the otherwise clean and contemporary venue, with additional lush centerpieces and details throughout the decor following suit. Other noteworthy features included table numbers with stories of Katie and Peter’s travels, a modern four-tier wedding cake, and sparkly silver accents, which assisted in making the room shine. We can’t forget to mention the incredible dance party that ensued thanks to the John Parker Band. So fun! Enjoy basking in these lovely details because there are plenty of them!
About the Couple
Peter and Katie met in 2016 in San Diego, CA on a work trip. They quickly hit it off, going surfing together and taking care of Katie after she was stung by a sting-ray. They started dating while pursuing their MBAs in Chicago, where they lived for several years. Peter proposed during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic on the riverwalk in downtown Chicago.
About the Wedding
Katie always wanted to get married in her hometown church, like both of her sisters before her. Given the number of out-of-town guests, Peter and Katie wanted to show off Pittsburgh, and thought the Carnegie Science Center’s PointView Hall views and location would be perfect. The colors were charcoal, ivory, greenery, and blush. The couple likes to describe it as an “urban garden” theme, but frankly, they just wanted something elegant and timeless. One unique thing they did during their vow exchange was a hand-fasting ceremony, where they tied their hands together. The pastor explained that, “These are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours.”
