If you close your eyes and envision the most picture perfect Twelve Oaks Mansion wedding, we’re betting it looks a lot like Kylie and RJ’s floral infused celebration! The classic yet versatile Pittsburgh wedding venue served as the foundation for the details that would include a ballet pink and gem green color palette. The hues were ideal for the classic garden-inspired wedding the couple had hoped for. With help from a team of bomb Pittsburgh wedding vendors, their dream came true. Oh Joyful Day designed invitations with delicate pink petals and script fonts to set the tone of the day. Following suit, Joe Mineo Creative installed the prettiest hanging arrangements on the venue’s ceiling, designed a floral arch that the couple got married and sat under during dinner, and created the most beautiful centerpieces that truly made the space flourish. Boxwood greens with a custom neon sign, textured linens from Mosaic, and the embroidered detailing on Kylie’s Eve of Milady gown from Bridal Beginning were other noteworthy elements that carried the feminine vibe. With Wanderlust Weddings and Events to oversee the day’s events along with Kaitlin Powell Photography and Just Hitched Wedding Films there to capture it, there’s no doubt you’re going to be inspired by this blooming wedding!

About the Couple
RJ and Kylie met online at the end of 2016. On their first date at Dave & Buster’s, RJ showed off his claw machine skills and won Kylie a small army of stuffed animals. A few dates later, they started officially dating and even adopted a puppy. Over the next few years, Kylie graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and the couple moved to Florida to start the next chapter of their lives together. Kylie and RJ spent the next few years enjoying the Florida sunshine and even adopted another puppy.
After a few years in Florida, they decided that they wanted to be closer to home and near friends and family. In 2020, they moved back to Pittsburgh to settle down and plant some roots. On May 30, 2021 Kylie had planned a surprise birthday party for RJ. Little did she know that he had already been planning to propose that night. Since RJ’s favorite hobby is playing video games, Kylie had planned a dinner and trip to Dave & Busters to celebrate his 31st birthday. The night was going as planned until RJ insisted that they go play the claw machine. After swiping the play card more times than he’d like to admit, and having a line of children form behind them, RJ was finally able to win a prize. As he knelt down to get the prize, he pulled out the ring from his pocket and popped the question. Kylie said yes and they celebrated RJ’s birthday and their engagement all in the same night.

About the Wedding
The whole idea for the wedding was a mix of a classic and flower garden vibes. The decor had a lot of flowers with lanterns hanging from the ceiling. We wanted the flowers to be the main focal point of the decor with personal touches throughout. The color palette was a mix of lighter pinks with varying accents of gold and greenery. When guests entered the venue, they were greeted by a floral and greenery wall with a custom “Mr. and Mrs. Patterson” neon light. This wall also served as the backdrop for the photo booth later in the night. The table centerpieces varied between three different lantern styles draped with flowers. The couple got married under a floral arch and hanging garden, which was used for the reception above the dance floor.
We also wanted to include personal touches such as signature drinks named after our dogs, three different cakes with a personal topper on each one, and a giant photo of our dogs near the cookie table.

Favorite Moment
RJ has been a die-hard gamer his whole life, so he walked down the aisle to the Halo 2 theme song. The looks on everyone’s faces was priceless.
Kylie’s favorite moment of the day was the music mashup at the end of the night where the DJ took all of RJ and Kylie’s favorite songs and mashed them all together for a long dance party. It was a personal touch just for RJ and Kylie that their friends and family enjoyed just as much.
