Overflowing with pretty blooms, a pastel purple palette, and loads of love, Allison and Nick’s Soldiers & Sailors Museum wedding is ready to impress you! The ornate detailing of the venue lended itself to be the perfect spot to bring the couple’s English garden vision to life. They brought the outdoors in starting with their stationery. Blush Paper Co. set the tone for the celebration with a custom pastel invitation design. The suite included a watercolor map with a sketch of the couple’s adorable dog, Gus. As their pup is an important member of their family, Gus was also included throughout the decor – appearing on their cake from Bethel Bakery, custom cocktail napkins, and bar signs. Allison’s Essence of Australia wedding gown from Bridal Beginning had the prettiest floral applique detailing that was right on par with the style of the occasion. It fit like a glove too, thanks to The Iron Horse Atelier. The look of her dress complemented the aesthetic of the embroidered floral overlay of the linens from Mosaic, which only added to the blooming celebration. Go ahead and enjoy the light, airy, and incredibly beautiful elements and moments of this wedding overseen by Events by Emily and captured by Dana Lynn Photography.

About the Couple
We met at Allegheny College in 2014 through mutual friends. We started dating after a few months of being friends. Nick graduated in 2015 and moved to upstate New York for work. I graduated in 2016 and moved back to Pittsburgh. After a few years of long distance, we both finally ended up in Washington DC in 2019. We got engaged in Shenandoah National Park in October 2020. I love fall foliage and wanted to go to Shenandoah. Nick picked a scenic trail with a good overlook spot and surprised me. We got to the overlook and there was another young guy from DC, to whom we talked to really briefly. He asked me to take a photo of him and he took a photo of us in return. After I handed him back his phone, I pulled out some hand sanitizer (it was the prime of COVID…) and was rubbing my hands together when I turned to offer some to Nick. He was on one knee and I quickly ditched my sanitizer.

About the Wedding
I was really inspired by English garden weddings but didn’t want to have an outdoor wedding, so I just tried to focus on florals and getting a light and airy feeling. Our chosen venues were so beautiful that they really didn’t need much. I really wanted it to be classic and elegant with some pastel touches. We also wanted to incorporate our dog, Gus, into the day. We had a clay model made of him that was on the cake, cookie table napkins with a sketch of him, bar signs with him, and he was featured on the map that went with our invitations. We were lucky to have him at our engagement photo shoot and we used those photos for our card box as well.

Favorite Moment
I don’t know if I can pick just one. I really enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family, getting to marry Nick, and an odd one that comes to mind is wearing my wedding dress to the hotel bar. I think just being able to actually experience our day that we spent so much time and energy planning and imagining was awesome. Each part of the day was perfect.
