Local Pittsburgh flowers are in full bloom in this colorful and airy Franklin on Penn wedding styled shoot dreamt up by Nancy of Functions Pittsburgh. Flowers were included in every aspect of the shoot as the team emphasized the historic features of the newly remodeled Pittsburgh wedding venue, highlighting stunning columns and unique architectural drama. Sunset-hued florals by Lilac & Fawn embraced a contemporary, maximalist approach to design with the feelings of an indoor blooming spring garden right inside the walls of Franklin on Penn. Bobby and Serena of BridgePerspective captured this feel-good energy through their vibrant approach to photo and video. After walking into Bridal Beginning and spotting an Eve of Milady ball gown on the mannequin, the team knew this dress had the perfect balance of modern romance with garden-inspired lace. Alex Robba Cake designed a three-tiered cake frosted with a floral design that mimicked the lace on the ball gown, accented with a small branch of blooming tree buds. Completing the model’s bridal look was makeup by See Jane Blush and soft tousled updo by Styled with Passion for that “afternoon in a garden” glow.

About the Shoot
From the planner…
Colorful, seasonal spring florals were the driving force of the design for this editorial. Although early springtime can sometimes be a bit dreary in the city, the hues of tulips and daffodils inspired the team to appreciate the beauty of Pittsburgh.
We were intentional in our efforts to enhance the stunning and historic features of our venue with modern florals that would leave our guests and gallery viewers feeling as though a blooming spring garden had been planted right inside the walls of Franklin on Penn. When setting up, we wanted to ensure we could capture the beautiful columns and grand windows in our shoot, as they truly make the space unique.
Lilac & Fawn took a contemporary, maximalist approach to floral design and incorporated locally grown seasonal flowers. She chose vibrant spring flowers with delicate white orchids, roses, and daffodils for added contrast. Intentional with the placement of each stem and blooming branch, she ensured the arrangements still had a whimsical, garden-like feel.
Flowers were incorporated into each aspect of the design. From the beautiful invitation suite to the dried flower accents on our taper candles, to the gown, and of course – the stunning floral installations, – we brought the outside garden indoors on a rainy spring day in the ‘Burgh.
