This gold & white Fox Chapel Golf Club wedding might as well be called the “Beyonce of chic affairs” because it’s FLAWLESS. Starting with acrylic wedding invitations set in an envelope lined with gold foil and ending with a candlelit soiree at a luxurious venue, this wedding is one for the books. Mia and Nick wanted the perfect amount of richness and clean sophistication, and that’s exactly what they got by working with Shayla Hawkins Events and Hens and Chicks. Mirrored top tables, crystal candelabras, a suspended upside down wedding cake from Frosted Envy, and gold-rimmed charger plates courtesy of All Occasions Party Rental were just a few of the show-stopping details. Michael Will Photography captured all of them and you should prepare yourself to be WOWED!
About the Couple
Although we grew up only miles from one another, it took me two whole decades before I laid my eyes on the tall, dark, and handsome Nick Griffiths for the first time – which happened to be in my very own backyard! The running joke to this day is that Marci, my mom, “saw Nick first” when she hired him to be her landscaper in the summer of 2010. And as the saying goes, the rest is history – a complicated one, but history at that. Upon our meeting, we both displayed an unspoken yet obvious interest in one another. Come fall, I headed back to Arizona for my senior year of college, leaving Nick behind, but hardly forgotten. This on-again-off-again, long distance, phone-based relationship was our foundation, until I graduated college and moved home to Pittsburgh. Now it was Nick’s turn to fulfill his dream of living out west. He packed up his dog and his skis and moved to Colorado. It took less than a year for me to convince Nick that Pittsburgh is where we would set our roots – together. He surprised me (sort of), packed up one final time, and drove home for the long haul on October 27th, 2012. Fast forward five years, a mid-century modern ranch, and one adorable puppy named Murph later, we were finally engaged! Nick popped the question in our home on a Saturday morning and we celebrated with my family at our favorite restaurant later that night.
About the Wedding
Classic elegance with shots of glam incorporated through acrylic and mirrored pieces and gold and white throughout. It was all in the details! The acrylic and gold foil invitations really set the tone. I wanted the wedding to feel rich but not overdone, and still clean. The ceremony was made to feel more traditional and elegant, with the soft draping of the chuppah and the cascading flowers.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment of the day was our first look. After all, that is what the getting ready is all for! I was so nervous and excited for Nick to finally see me in my gown. After that, the nerves were gone and we were able to enjoy our day. My second favorite moment was seeing the venue for the first time. All of the months of planning and decisions came together just as we had envisioned. Great pride in that moment!
