Long before their Oakland engagement session, Dee and Day’s relationship was love at first swipe. When Dalashay spotted Darrell’s Tinder profile in February 2018, she knew she had found her final match. After a breathtaking proposal under the sparkling rotunda of The Pennsylvanian downtown, the couple planned a pre-wedding photo shoot with Emily Reynolds Photography that embraced their dichotomous sides. On one hand, the couple loves dressing up and looking fancy. But on the other hand, they also loving rocking casual looks. Why not feature both? First, the soonlyweds hit up the elegant columns and infamous steps of the Mellon Institute in black tie attire with Dalashay in a striking floor length black gown and Darrell in a crisp all-black suit. Later, the couple strutted the University of Pittsburgh’s campus hand-in-hand, sporting crisp white tees and stylish sneakers while taking in beautiful architecture outside Heinz Chapel and the Cathedral of Learning. Whether your aesthetic is elevated and chic or comfy and down-to-earth, these engagement photos are proof that you really can have the best of both worlds!
About the Couple
Dee and Day actually met through Tinder. Neither of them was really active, but one day in February 2018, Day saw his profile and used her only “superlike” on Dee. They began officially dating in April 2018 and have been together ever since.
The proposal story goes something like this: Dee was going to graduate from Duquesne that week, and his mom told Dalashay that they were having a surprise party for him that night after his graduation. Dalashay invited a few of his close friends and had to work hard to keep the surprise from Dee. On Wednesday of that week, the graduation party had to “be cancelled”. Dee’s sister told Dalashay that they would still go out to eat and surprise Dee with dinner, and that his aunt and cousin were still coming in to be a part of the surprise as well. His sister picked Dalashay up that evening and told her they would pick up Dee after getting his aunt and cousin from the train station. They drove downtown to the “train station”, which actually happened to be The Pennsylvanian. When Dalashay walked under the arches, Dee was waiting there under the dreamy lights. Dalashay was in shock. Dee got down on his knee and asked her to spend forever with him. Of course she said, “YES!”
About the Session
Dee and Day are all about the fancy elegant look, but they also love a casual fit as well. They went for both looks in their engagement shoot to showcase both of these sides. They knew the location and outfits would go hand-in-hand and they sure did. The pictures are some they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
