When two people from Pittsburgh fall in love and get married, you know you’re in for a FUN celebration. That’s exactly what the Edgewood Country Club wedding of self-proclaimed “yinzers” Maria and Jake was like. They hit it off while seeing the gigantic rubber ducky at The Point and the rest is history. Their incredible fall nuptials were the perfect mix of seasonal burnt orange and the city’s favorite colors – black and gold. Maria – donning a stunning floral applique gown from MB Bride – locked eyes with her beau during a first look where they shared a smile, a cheer, and a beer before heading to their outdoor ceremony. After sealing their vows with a kiss under a golden arch draped with gorgeous white blooms, the two were off to celebrate. Their reception contained classic yet personal touches. Paying tribute to the city that not only raised them but brought them together, they named tables after iconic city bridges and had an epic and beautifully detailed black and gold Tasty Bakery wedding cake. Even the cake topper was on brand – it featured the couple’s likeness with Jake sporting an exposed Pirate’s tee. And of course, there were cookies galore to honor the sweetest Pittsburgh wedding tradition! A. Jean Photography is giving us a healthy dose of hometown pride in these images that are going to have you falling in love n’at.

About the Couple
Jake and I first met in September 2013. We immediately hit it off when we were set up on a date by a very close friend. Our first date was actually at The Point to see the gigantic rubber ducky that was passing through town.
Every year, I go on a girls’ trip to a family friend’s camper in Erie, PA. It is a tradition that on every trip, we watch the sunset on the beach at Walnut Creek. In September 2019, Jake, knowing this tradition, drove up to Erie with some of our very close friends and surprised me on the beach with my favorite flowers and my favorite people to ask me the most important question of our lives. Of course, without hesitation, I said yes!

About the Wedding
Jake and I are both Pittsburghers through and through. We are both born and raised in Pittsburgh, we very much speak Pittsburghese, we love our Pittsburgh sports, and we are very family and friends orientated. We both share a strong love for this city, and the heart of this town – The Point – was the start of our life together. We felt it was only fitting to pay tribute to Pittsburgh on our wedding day by tastefully incorporating it as much as we could! We tried to keep the wedding style classic but we added as many personal touches as we could. Our colors were burnt orange and gold.

Favorite Moment
Our favorite part of the day was at the reception dancing, laughing, drinking, and celebrating with the most important people in our lives. It was truly breathtaking to see everyone in the same room together all to celebrate the love that Jake and I share!
