You’ve likely seen a Shady Elms Farm wedding, but we bet you’ve never seen one quite this pretty before. After exchanging vows in the well-known rustic barn, Ansley and Anthony switched things up and celebrated their nuptials under a white tent on the property. There, the couple opted for a bohemian glam look that infused both their styles. Soft shades of blue and green abounded thanks to pale linens, greenery runners, and plenty of fresh thistle, amaranthus, and eucalyptus. Elements like wooden signs and a hanging floral installation above the sweetheart table spoke to the natural vibe of the farm venue. Meanwhile gold chargers added a touch of sparkle. An old wagon completely covered in cookies and other treats provided a sweet ending to a beautiful day, and a sparkler exit capped up a fun evening. About the Couple
Tony and I met in 2010 while both working at Brookside Lumber. He was just out of high school and I was a shy 16 year old. We lived parallel lives for almost four years before our worlds finally collided and we became inseparable. It took a simple ride home from a work Christmas party to break the ice and catch each other’s eye.
Tony proposed on Light Up Night in 2016 on Mt. Washington. It has always been a tradition of ours to watch the fireworks from the overlook, and that year I had an even more special surprise waiting for me at the finale. It didn’t go without a hiccup though. When Tony tried to propose, he kept trying to turn me around to which I responded, “Hey, I’m trying to watch the fireworks!” As soon as I saw why he was turning me around, the rest was a blur.
About the Wedding
Our wedding theme was bohemian glam. We wanted it to feel glamorous yet laid back. As a couple, we are different in the sense that Tony could spend forever in sneakers and basketball shorts and I love to get dolled up. We wanted our day to represent that mix and show who we are as individuals.
We pulled in elements of dusty blue, charcoal, and sage for our decor and bridal party dresses. My vision was to incorporate the natural elements of the farm and enhance it with LOTS of candles and florals. We had the crazy idea of a floating floral arrangement above our sweetheart table, which was made possible by Shady Elms Farm.
One of our favorite elements from the day was that we were able to be charitable while planning the day. We found an organization called Centerpieces 4 Seniors to repurpose our flowers. We also donated all of our remaining food to the Washington City Mission. In lieu of favors, we made a donation to Narcotics Anonymous, which is a charity very close to our hearts.
Favorite Moment
We loved our reception!!! Being able to spend time with our friends and family on the dance floor was a memory we will always have. When we think about the day, so much of it ran on a tight schedule, but the reception gave us a chance to just let loose and enjoy the day.
