Rachel and Alex’s dusty blue and berry wedding at Butler Country Club was a beautiful celebration of love that was made all the more special with meaningful details that were rooted in family traditions. The bride worked closely with Julia James Design to create a head table that perfectly mimicked her parents’ head table from their wedding, which took place at the same venue. With delicate dusty blue and white linens from Event Source, rich berry floral arrangements, and flickering candlelight, the table was a stunning tribute to the past. The ceremony was held at Memorial Park Church, where the groom’s parents tied the knot. It was a sentimental location and a beautiful reminder of the enduring love that had brought both families together. Another beautiful detail was the cake topper from the bride’s grandparents’ wedding in 1960. It added a touch of vintage charm and was the icing on the cake, quite literally! To top it all off, Tasty Bakery provided a delicious array of desserts for guests to indulge in, with something to satisfy every sweet tooth. About the Couple
We met in 2017 while both working at my dad’s Chevrolet dealership. We bonded over our love for cars, became fast friends, and soon fell in love. We were long distance almost immediately as I went back to college in Dayton but we’ve been together ever since.
I didn’t think anything would happen until at least our five year anniversary in August 2022. In May 2022, Alex decided it was time after buying my first house. He had my friends tell me another friend was getting engaged so we needed to get our nails done so she would be ready. I came home from that and Alex was standing beneath the big tree in the backyard with lights and fabric hanging down and flowers and candles everywhere. His brother was there playing “Greatest Love Story” by Lanco on the guitar. We consider that our song because it sounded so much like our story and people at the dealership used to tell us that it was about us. His brother’s girlfriend was there recording it all. It was absolutely perfect and I love that I remember that moment every time I look at that tree.

About the Wedding
I didn’t have a specific vision or theme in my head for our wedding, which allowed me to match things together as I saw what I liked. The only thing I knew was that I liked the color palette of dusty blue and berr, and we went from there. The invitations we used ended up being a little art nouveau-looking so that informed some of the design choices as well. Most of the choices were made because Alex’s parents got married at Memorial Park Church and my parents had their wedding reception at Butler Country Club, so I knew I wanted to honor elements of them somehow. We ended up having our florist do a head table design that mimicked my parents’ so that we could recreate a photo of theirs and I’m so glad we did because it ended up so special.
Other elements that were important to me were using my grandparents’ cake topper from their wedding in 1960 and having a table to honor our lost loved ones. My mom and our florist were really the reason everything came together so well and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Favorite Moment
It’s hard to pick one. I would say the ceremony since I was really nervous and it was such a good feeling to lock eyes with Alex as I came down the aisle. As soon as I saw him I was immediately calm. Our pastor is a really good family friend and his message was amazing and really personal, so I wasn’t expecting to get as emotional as I did, but it was really sweet. I also loved playing a song at the reception that my grandfather recorded in 1959 called “Don’t Sweat It, Baby”. I loved seeing his face when he heard it and we got to dance to it. We just felt so much love in the room the entire day and couldn’t have asked for a better wedding.
