Get ready to paint the town red in this dressy downtown Pittsburgh engagement session from Pittsburgh wedding photographer Steven Dray Images. College sweethearts Jessica and Christopher wanted their pre-wedding photo shoot to have an urban feel reminiscent of where they fell in love – NYC. To contrast the grit and sharp lines of skyscrapers and rooftops, Jessica donned an off-the-shoulder red maxi dress while Christopher dressed it up in a navy suit. The juxtaposition is a striking, modern one that I can’t get enough of. While downtown Pittsburgh might seem like it’s only for the 9-to-5ers and theatre-goers, it’s actually an area full of picture-perfect nooks and crannies. You just have to know where to look 😉
About the Couple
We met in New York City, freshman year of college in 2005. As I was moving into the freshman dorms, I spotted Christopher. I noticed he had an accent and I was intrigued. That moment I had to meet him! Our roommates gladly introduced us. A year later, I fell in love with a Pittsburgh native! We were inseparable. After graduating and having our beautiful son, we decided to move to Pittsburgh. Fast forward to Christmas morning 2016. All of my family in NYC decided to FaceTime us, which was odd. We were discussing gifts and Chris shouts, “There’s one more gift!” I turned to face him and he was down on one knee asking for forever! The fact that he included my family via FaceTime was funny and thoughtful. There were tears and screams! It was beautiful!
About the Session
Our engagement session was an experience. I have a new found respect for photographers and models! Steven made it so easy! Rooftops, city skylines, and architecture inspire me. The iconic buildings’ contrast of our love was artistic from our perspective. We included our son into the photos because this new journey is important to all of us.
Favorite Moment
Being able to capture beautiful moments with my boys was the highlight for me. Besides that, my favorite moment was when we decided to take a break and grab some snacks! Walking into a convenience store all dressed up to buy chips and candy – pretty hilarious!
