Blooming magnolia trees, a colorful bouquet of flowers, and a cutie patootie pup…it doesn’t get better than this dreamy Mellon Park engagement session! Arielle and Michael were the lucky winners of a styled engagement session from Angie Candell Photography and La Pomponnee Beauty Artisans. After some his and her pampering with the La Pomponnee stylists, the engaged couple headed to one of Pittsburgh’s most scenic spots. Mellon Park was in full bloom and already looked lovely, but The Mustard Couch dressed it up with a vintage settee and crystal chandelier hanging from a tree. Angie even added a bright punch of color from a floral bouquet she arranged herself. The pair traipsed around the park, taking in the beautiful foliage, walking their sweet dog Charlie, and reminiscing on their Paris proposal (le swoon!). Like something out of a fairy tale, these engagement photos are sure to make your heart flutter!
From the bride…
Tell me about yourselves! When and how did you meet? How long have you been together? How did you get engaged? All the juicy details!
Michael and I met in 2015 in Boston, both working for the same company at the time. After going out with a group of coworkers and feeling like we were the only ones, we knew it was something special! Michael was born and raised in Pittsburgh and I am originally from Tennessee. fter many months of long distance and trips, we were ready to be together full-time! I made the move to Pittsburgh and by this time, it was already feeling like home. We had a big/busy year with the move, new job, building a house, etc. and Michael and our friends planned a trip to Europe to get away. And because it had been such a big year, the last thing I was expecting was an engagement! The first full day in Paris was like something out of a dream. We spent the whole day exploring, indulging in the city of love, food, and arts. At sunset, we walked to the Eiffel Tower, sat on the bench and starting talking about life and how happy and thankful we are. He talked about the memories we were making in that VERY moment and the moments after that were a blur!! Michael pulled out the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen (that he had on him the ENTIRE day). I was so surprised! The rest of trip we were on cloud nine with a smile on our faces you could not wipe off. It was so painfully obvious we were newly engaged and we soaked every bit of it up.
Describe the engagement session and what inspired the shoot. What was unique about it?
My wonderfully-talented makeup artist friend, Clare Lozano, told me about Angie Candell and La Pomponnee raffling off a styled engagement session. I entered the contest and won! I never win anything, by the way, so naturally I was so excited! Angie and her team were absolutely amazing. She set everything up, told me what I needed to do and where I needed to be – talk about stress free!! I met Kristen and Lauren of La Pomponnee, who worked their magic on hair and makeup…flawless! They took into consideration my style and the finished product was me, but enhanced! They even gave Michael a fresh cut and made him look sharp before the shoot, too! We met Angie and the team from The Mustard Couch at Mellon Park to get everything all set up. There was a gorgeous vintage couch and chandelier with a handmade bouquet! They made Michael and I feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Angie had a vision, knew the exact spots she wanted to take us, and we had so much fun the entire shoot! She even let us get a few shots with our pup, Charlie! The entire day was an experience of pampering and fun, working with talented professionals who collaborated to make the most gorgeous photos that Michael and I will have forever.
