With a venue with as much architectural opulence as this one, Lenaya and Christopher’s Pennsylvanian wedding was bound to be a beautiful one. However, by adding some bohemian decor among the chic details, their day was next-level divine. Before Lenaya walked down an aisle with vintage rugs from Old Souls Vintage Rentals leading the way, she spotted her dapper groom at the other end – sweetly in tears at the first sight of his blushing bride. Upon exchange of their vows, guests walked into the ballroom’s romantic ambiance, which was thanks to EF Lighting. Tabletops were accented with tall floral centerpieces courtesy of Sapphire & Lace Design and Pittsburgh-inspired table names made by Written by Nikki. Maroon and blush hues mixed with colors of the city (black and gold) provided such uniqueness. Enjoy these captivating photos of their stylish day by Alex Mowrey Photography!
About the Couple
Christopher and I met at Slippery Rock University. We were introduced to each other through mutual friends and discovered we were the same exact person. It was like we were looking in the mirror at each other.
Christopher’s proposal was one for the books! We traveled to Paris, France to attend our friends’ wedding. During our time there, we did all of the tourist-like activities, including visiting the Eiffel Tower. While we were there, Chris asked a friend of ours, Ryan, to take a photo of us. Naturally, I striked a pose, but was somewhat confused as to why Christopher wasn’t by my side. I turned around to look for him, and found him down on one knee with a ring in hand. I remember him asking, “Will you please make me the happiest guy in the world and marry me?”. I couldn’t believe it! With tears running down my cheeks, of course I said yes! It was like an absolute fairytale. I will never forget that amazing moment.
About the Wedding
The style of our wedding was bohemian chic with subtle touches of Pittsburgh. It was inspired by my love for the bohemian style and the elements included in the bohemian lifestyle. We also wanted to include some Pittsburgh details because it was the first time in the city for a lot of our guests. Our colors were black, white, and gold with blush, maroon, champagne, and green in our florals. At one point, everything seemed somewhat all over the place, but in the end every element was tied together nicely.
Favorite Moment
My absolute favorite moment of the day was seeing Chris’s facial expression was he saw me in my gown. He cried when he saw me, and he never cries. I was emotional when I saw him as well because I knew behind his tears was so much joy and love. My thought when I saw him was, “Finally! I get to marry my best friend in the entire world.” It was one of the happiest moments of my life and definitely a moment that I will cherish forever.
