Crafting the Perfect Wedding Shower: 11 Tips for an Unforgettable Celebration | Burgh Brides

Start early.

Traditionally, the wedding shower is hosted between 2 – 3 months before the wedding. This allows ample time for planning and ensures that the nearlywed isn’t overwhelmed with last-minute details.

Set a budget.

Weddings can be expensive, and showers are no exception. Determine your budget early on and stick to it. From venue rental to decorations to refreshments, every expense should be accounted for. The cost associated with a bridal shower can be upwards of a few thousand dollars, depending on if you’re serving alcohol and the number of people.

Personalize the theme.

Make the wedding shower truly special by incorporating elements that reflect the soonlywed’s tastes and interests. Whether it’s a vintage tea party or a glamorous spa day, a personalized theme adds a memorable touch.

Curate the guest list.

Don’t be afraid to keep the guest list intimate, inviting only close friends and family members. Remember, not everyone who’s invited to the wedding needs to be invited to the shower, but everyone who is invited to the shower needs to be invited to the wedding (unless it’s a destination or micro wedding). Focus on VIPs who will make the couple feel loved and celebrated.

Choose the perfect location.

Selecting the right venue sets the tone for the entire event. While restaurants and venue halls are popular choices, consider unique locations like a cozy backyard or a scenic park for a more relaxed gathering.

Get creative with stationery.

Invitations and other stationery items should match the theme and overall vibe of the shower. While we always suggest working with a professional designer, if costs are prohibitive, you can save by DIYing.

Plan a delicious menu.

This is another detail where the theme of the shower can really come to life. If you’re throwing a tea party, opt for finger sandwiches, tea cookies, and miniature desserts. If a wine tasting if the theme, treat guests to charcuterie boards and a grazing table. If your shower is more casual, opt for finger foods or a potluck-style meal to keep things simple and budget-friendly.

Add creative touches

Elevate the ambiance with thoughtful details like fresh flowers, a stunning cake, and festive decorations. Consider incorporating interactive activities such as candle making or build-your-own bouquet bar to keep guests entertained.

Create fun photo ops.

Set up photo-worthy backdrops and spots for memorable photo ops. Whether it’s a floral wall or a themed photo booth, these Instagram-worthy setups are sure to be a hit with guests.

Send guests home with favors.

Show your appreciation to guests by providing thoughtful favors that they’ll actually use. From personalized items to succulent plants, choose items that reflect the theme of the shower and leave a lasting impression.

Include the partner.

While not typically in attendance, it’s common to have the other half of the couple at the end of the celebration. This is the perfect time for them to bring a little something special like flowers, engage with the guests in attendance, and partake in a fun game, if desired.
