Jimmy of Green Sinner has a bit of advice when it comes to designing your wedding: “Find inspiration in your personal style and let that light shine. Find inspiration in your venue and use that to your advantage.”
That’s exactly what he did when he teamed up with Mandy Fierens Photography to bring you this styled shoot. The grandeur of Soldiers & Sailors spurred the look of this session. Both its large event space and its intimate areas, such as the boardroom, contain unique architectural features that provided some out of this world photo opportunities. Pulling color from the Americana vibe, Jimmy decorated with jewel tones and tons of fresh greenery. Candlelight from candelabras, votives, and other pieces added warmth, while copper and gold animal figurines kicked up the playfulness factor. Even coins were sprinkled on the table for a unique touch. Fun with a magnifying glass allowed Mandy to get some crazy unique shots.
Rich and bold, this session captures the dramatic beauty of Soldiers & Sailors while showing off the eclectic talent of some of Pittsburgh’s hippest vendors. Let this shoot encourage you to pull inspiration from your venue’s own style, while infusing some elements that speak to your individuality. The result will be a cohesive look that brings both you and your space alive!
From Jimmy of Green Sinner…
Memories are composed of emotions of people in places. One of my favorite places in Pittsburgh is the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum. The large event spaces and intimate areas provide special opportunities for memories…documented in killer pictures!
We looked to the museum itself for inspiration for the style of this shoot. Mr. Lincoln’s coin and the colors of Americana provided our palette. Our interpretation included rich jewel tones and mixed metallics with touches of neutrals. The textures! This place is a treasure chest of textures. Velvet, leathers, wood, stone, copper. OH, THE COPPER!
For your inspiration, choose something meaningful to you personally. We are firm believers in enjoying trends but not living by them. Find inspiration in your personal style and let that light shine. Find inspiration in your venue and use that to your advantage. Most importantly, have fun and don’t forget to enjoy the planning and the special day.
