Alex and Caitlin’s colorful Treesdale Golf & Country Club wedding is a true expression of their relationship. What better way to do this than through the vibrancy of colors? Moody purples and peacock teal added depth to their celebration, while popping pinks and other sunset hues brought warmth. The couple showed off the beauty of these pigments through their floral-filled wedding invitations, wedding party attire, and gorgeous bouquets and wildflowers that oozed from hexagon-shaped centerpieces. The whimsy touches didn’t stop there. Anne Troxel Photography had the pair pose in a field of blooms, in addition to providing flowers from her own garden to curate the most beautiful flat lays. Their day was made extra special with the expertise of their chosen vendors too. Fireside Events kept the celebration alive with music that echoed the joy in Alex and Caitlin’s hearts. Glam to Go ensured the couple looked their absolute best on this memorable day, adding the finishing touches to their radiant appearances. This one is truly blossoming with colorful inspiration!

About the Couple
Alex and Caitlin met through a mutual friend while attending the University of Pittsburgh. This friend (later, Caitlin’s maid of honor) met Alex in Pitt’s Computer Science Department, and met Caitlin while studying abroad in Italy. She kept insisting that Caitlin meet her friend Alex because she had a hunch that they’d get along really well. And, she couldn’t have been more accurate. It was love at first sight, with the easiest laughs and conversations that they had ever known.
Alex and Caitlin both covertly bought engagement rings for the other in late 2020, and used different hiding places. Alex ordered Caitlin’s ring to be delivered to her parent’s home, and Caitlin hid Alex’s ring in a pair of holiday socks. Confident in their secrecy, each of them separately confided in Alex’s sister during a ski outing that the rings were bought, delivered, and ready to be used. Each of them said, “And she has no idea!”
Caitlin was the first to break the tension on New Year’s Eve, 2020. She conspired with her sister-in-law to get Alex out of their shared apartment in order for her to set the scene. Thirty minutes into a suspiciously detailed “tech problem” conversation in their apartment lobby that “only Alex would know the answer to,” Alex made it back to their apartment. Caitlin popped the question, and as Alex said “Yes,” she ran to the kitchen to pull out Caitlin’s own ring.

About the Wedding
From the photographer…
The overall feeling felt like wildflowers and spring rebirth. This was not a monotone wedding! The key colors were moody purples and peacock teal. I’d almost have to say that the day was a feeling, not a color scheme.
They wanted a wedding to act as an expression of their relationship – simple, warm, joyful, colorful, and full of their closest friends and family.
Photographically, I loved the pops of color and wildflowers they included on their floral and invitation design. We went out at sunset, where there was a PERFECT patch of wildflowers. I asked my couple if they’d be okay going into it, and was met with, “We trust you. We would do ANYTHING you told us! Even if it sounds crazy, we’re game!” which is the hands-down the BEST thing you can hear as a photographer! The backlight illuminated the two of them and really pulled those floral details from the invitation into a full circle.
The flat lay florals were also grown in my garden. One of my love languages is giving, so sharing those and contributing even more to such an important day really meant a lot to me.
In lieu of a traditional guest book, they had a record of their first dance song – “Stay in my Corner” by The Arcs – framed for guests to sign. I am ALWAYS here for a sentimental detail!

Favorite Moment
From the photographer…
One of the biggest, most emotional parts of their day was that it took place the weekend directly after Roe vs. Wade was repealed. Without getting too detailed in politics, it essentially overrules our rights to privacy, which could easily spread to same-sex relationships. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, in the immense darkness that time was, having Alex and Caitlin SHINING on their wedding day proving love ALWAYS wins was the beacon of light we all needed. Their wedding felt like a victory we had all fought for and a right that all people deserve. We all had a little cry about how monumental their wedding was during their sunset portraits!
I also just loved their small gestures of love to one another – Caitlin holding Alexandra’s hand to her heart during the first dance, their happy tears and smiles during their first look, soft hand placements on each other – every touch was full of intent and love. It felt like a secret language between the two brides.
With guests, it was SO apparent how loved both of these two are. Every family member and wedding party member had the sweetest and most loving words for them, the best memories of adventures, and accolades to their caring hearts and tenderness. One of the things that really stood out is how much Caitlin loves to care for others, which could not be more true.

VICTORIA! Thank you so much for sharing Alex and Caitlin’s day- I cannot say how much I adored this couple, their friends and families, and their wedding day enough. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful to you for sharing their story, and for Alex and Caitlin for trusting me to tell it.
All of my love,
ALWAYS.
