The beauty of nature comes alive in this bright and cheerful backyard wedding. Inspired by their love of the outdoors and especially the Denver mountains, Charlotte and Aaron wanted a celebration that was scenic, colorful, and casual. Choosing Charlotte’s family’s farm as their venue, the couple exchanged vows in front of the still waters of a serene pond before hosting their guests for dinner and dancing under a tent lit up with string lights. The space was enlivened with every shade of the rainbow – from the star of the show, cornflower blue, to yellow, pink, green, and every hue in between. Centerpieces from Fox and the Fleur were made to resemble the wildflowers of the mountains, and tables were named after those the couple have climbed together. While Charlotte’s bridesmaids kept up with the low key vibe in short dresses with a dainty daisy floral print, the bride herself looked ravishing in an off-the-shoulder Lela Rose wedding dress, custom turquoise earrings from Henne Jewelers, and fresh, summery makeup from Beauty by Joy. With killer images from Kathryn Hyslop Photography, this joyful wedding is sure to put a smile on your face!
About the Couple
Aaron and I met at work. For our first date, we went hiking at St. Mary’s Glacier in Colorado, which is where Aaron took me to propose about two years after we started dating.
About the Wedding
We wanted our wedding to be somewhat casual, with a strong emphasis on the beautiful scenery. Aaron and I love to hike and backpack in the summer, so we wanted our flowers to be somewhat wild to resemble the wildflowers in the Denver mountains. We also wanted to incorporate that as much as we could, like in the mountain table markers. The tables were labeled with the names of mountains that we’ve climbed that are over 14,000 ft in elevation.
As far as colors are concerned – we wanted them all! We had cornflower blue for our main color and then used green, yellow, pink, and white as well! We wanted everything in our wedding to really represent us as a couple, which is why I chose the bridesmaids dresses, which are somewhat unconventional, but I thought that they were something that I would wear in the summer and I loved them!
Lastly, the wedding itself was unique because we had it at my family’s farm. The house has been in our family forever and I’ve always loved the property. We were so blessed with a beautiful day and I absolutely love the sod fields as our backdrop!
Favorite Moment
That would probably be when Aaron kissed me as husband and wife! He surprised me with a dip, which apparently he didn’t plan and which I absolutely loved.
