If you meet your now-fiance at the August Wilson Center, it only makes sense that your city engagement session take place under his Hill District mural, right? Adrianne and Reese thought so, and that’s exactly where they headed for some pre-wedding pics with Kaitlin Powell Photography. The striking colors and intricate artwork of the facade lended themselves beautifully to the couple’s playful and happy vibe. Does it even get any better than big smiles and inspirational artwork in bright hues? Why yes, it actually does! Because after the uptown shots, the pair headed downtown where they painted the town red…and blue and green and purple and yellow and more! Adrianne’s colorful wrap skirt is basically a piece of art itself and played center stage in their Mellon Square Park portraits that are just too dang good. From hip urban grit to city chic, these engagement photos have it all! Keep scrolling to see for yourself!
About the Couple
Maurice and Adrianne met at the August Wilson Center in 2012. At the time, Adrianne worked as an event coordinator at the center and Maurice was working on a production being staged there.
Although their love story has blossomed, it wasn’t love at first sight. After many attempts to get her attention – and with a little help from her co-workers – Maurice finally got her to agree to go out with him. After the first couple of dates, he knew that there was something special about her. “I thought about her all the time. Even when I tried not to, I couldn’t get her out of my head,” he recalls. It wasn’t long before the feelings became mutual.
On Saturday, December 21, 2018, in a hotel room adorned with rose petals, candles and champagne, with the bright cityscape shining through the window, Maurice asked Adrianne to marry him, to which she replied with a tearful “Yes!”
About the Session
When it came time to pick a location for their engagement photos, it was the vibrant and colorful mural of August Wilson on the side of a building in the historic Hill District that they both agreed was the perfect spot. Since they met at the August Wilson Center and they both are patrons and fans of Mr. Wilson’s plays, it only seemed right that they include him in the snapshots of their love. “I really love the colors and detail of the mural. It’s so big and vibrant that you can’t miss it as you are coming down the street. It was perfect,” says Adrianne.
