About the Couple
Although we grew up only miles apart from one another, and later found out we were in the same preschool class together, it took me until 8th grade to meet Mike! We were in the same grade, but Mike went to Catholic school and I went to public school. We met at a mutual friend’s house, and would see each other periodically leading up to our freshman year. Luckily for me, Mike became a part of our “friend group” shortly after school started – and the rest is history!
After high school, Mike went off to the University of Pittsburgh, and I headed to Penn State University for a long distance relationship. Thankfully, after college we both found ourselves back together in Pittsburgh.
A year or so later, Mike and I headed for a weekend getaway, when Mike suggested stopping at MY FAVORITE coffee shop in Ohiopyle. We were enjoying our coffee and dessert outside in the garden, and before we were about to leave, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! We had the best weekend celebrating with our closest friends!
About the Wedding
Classic elegance with a touch of modern! I chose to go with more of a neutral and gold tone, incorporated with lots of white flowers and greenery. We had a breathtaking sweetheart table with two beautiful baroque chairs, and flowers that framed as the backdrop. I also incorporated two acrylic gold dining tables for our bridal party, and acrylic high top guest tables to give our floor plan some dimension. The acrylic tables gave our wedding that modern style that we were looking for, and also helped give our wedding a wow factor. Our bridal party and their guests sat in a mix of gold chairs – All Occasion is the real deal with beautiful rentals! To top it off, Mt Lebanon Floral did a beautiful job with our flowers. We had a mix of gold tall vases, candelabras, and low vases of beautiful cascading flowers. Instagram is where I found most of my vendors and ideas. It is so hard to plan a wedding because there are so many styles out there, and it’s so easy to get caught up in all the little details, but it is really important to stick to your vision.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment was our first look at the ballroom! I spent a year planning (with lots of help from my mom) and wanted to take it all in before the ballroom was filled with family and friends. It was absolutely magical. We walked into our band playing, and Mike and I smiled from ear to ear as we danced. I felt like I was in a dream. After the two of us took it all in, we brought our parents in to see the ballroom. To see the look on our parents face was priceless.
