Some of the best views of downtown are from right in the heart of it and this rooftop engagement session from Jeannine Bonadio Photography is proof! Kristyn is a Pittsburgh native and Andrew is a transplant after having fallen in love with his now-fiance at the University of Delaware. These college sweethearts wanted to pay tribute to their new home city together during their engagement shoot that took place just one month after moving to the 412. They took in the city skyline from the top floor of a parking garage for a backdrop that is sure to take your breath away and be proud to bleed black and gold. They strolled down city streets, hand-in-hand, while exploring their new city and celebrating beginning this next chapter of their lives together. These images are sweet, carefree, and showcase some of Pittsburgh’s best features. Take a peek and see if your favorite downtown hot spot makes an appearance!
About the Couple
We first met at the University of Delaware during my first week of physical therapy school. Andrew hosted a barbecue at his house to kick off the year. He and his friends were wearing jorts. Needless to say, I was not interested. He eventually proposed the idea of going on “just” three dates, so I agreed. On the third date, Andrew picked me up to go out to dinner. As we were driving, he realized he had forgotten his wallet at his house, so we stopped by to pick it up. When I walked in, I saw that he had the table set, candles lit, wine poured, and something amazing cooking in the kitchen. After that, it didn’t take long for him to reel me in.
Fast forward almost six years later. We went for a hike at our favorite place in Delaware. As we were crossing a pretty bridge, Andrew stopped and pointed out toward the water and said, “Hey, look, a puppy!” In my blonde, dog-lover moment, I turned and searched for what Andrew felt was an eternity. When I turned back around, he was on one knee. I said yes, of course! Afterward, we went out to a beer garden to celebrate with another couple. Little did I know, all of our family and friends (some of whom traveled across the country) would be there as well. I was a puddle of tears all night!
About the Session
We couldn’t wait to take our engagement photos with the beautiful city backdrop, as we had just moved to Pittsburgh from Delaware the month that we took them. I’m a Pittsburgh native, and Andrew was getting acquainted with his new city and new job at Pitt. Strolling around downtown felt fitting because we truly were exploring and reveling in the excitement of beginning our lives together in Pittsburgh.
