Just when we thought an emerald green, gold, white, and black color palette couldn’t get any more beautiful, here comes along this Hotel Monaco wedding. With this chic and sophisticated backdrop, Sarah and Tarik tried to offset the formal yet funky hotel ballroom. After a rooftop first look session with Leeann Marie Photography, guests witnessed the vows and got the party started right away! Pittsburgh wedding florist greenSinner filled the reception space to the brim with greenery including fresh table runners, blooming elevated centerpieces, and gorgeously filled gilded vases dotting the tables. The room was given a romantic glow thanks to gold candelabras and taper candles in glass hurricanes. Gold rimmed charger plates, black menu cards with white calligraphy, and a fresh looking wedding cake from Bethel Bakery completed the look. Even Sarah’s bridesmaids dressed the part in simple yet contemporary little black dresses while the groom livened things up in a navy and black tuxedo. From start to finish, this affair is both timeless and modern. We guarantee you’ll want to have that Pin It button ready!
About the Couple
We met in law school at Villanova. We were in the same Section (meaning we had most of our core classes together) for the entire first year, but we never really got to know each other until we were out celebrating the end of exams in the spring semester of our 1L year. He was definitely my favorite part of law school.
My cousin is a jeweler and she designed and made my engagement ring, so I knew that it was coming. I was not so subtle about asking when it was going to happen, to the great annoyance of my fiancé.
We went to NYC on December 15, 2017, and there was a snow storm. When we got there, we quickly had to change to make it in time for his friend’s birthday dinner. We were staying near Rockefeller Center and he asked me if I wanted to see the Christmas tree quickly before we left for dinner. I love Christmas, so of course I said yes. After seeing the tree, he said “Okay, I am going to order an Uber, but first…” and then he got down and proposed. I was completely shocked. I started crying and of course said yes. I had no idea he was going to do it. It turns out it was not his friend’s birthday at all, and he had a really nice dinner for us We met friends out after to celebrate. Although we are far from the first people to get engaged in front of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, it was really special to me because it was so thoughtful and he managed to surprise me!
About the Wedding
I wanted a warm, candlelit, and romantic wedding. Our colors were black, ivory, emerald green, and gold. I think that the contrast of the formal venue and attire to the easiness of how we had the day planned for our guests was unique.
Aww I love seeing this feature of my wedding!! I cannot give enough compliments to my team, especially Bumbleburgh’s Karlie (who was 8 months pregnant at my wedding and absolutely flawless – I don’t think I could have gotten married without her) and Leeann Marie, who is clearly beyond talented.
everything was absolutely beautiful! congratulations!!!
This is GORGEOUS!
Sarah, I admire your taste. The greenery on the tables was so understated yet unique and totally tied everything together.
