Love was written in the stars for Kathleen, Christopher, and their Riverfront Weddings celebration. Taking inspiration from the groom’s last name – Urso – the couple designed a day with Ursa Major, the stars, and the galaxies in mind. The inky tone of a night sky came alive with the day’s navy blue color palette, while copper gave it a star-shiny feel. With a little help from Em and E Events and All Occasions Party Rental, the reception venue looked heavenly. Wooden tables handmade by Penn Rustic Rentals were adorned with crystal chiavari chairs, clear glass plates, and fresh greenery runners. Gold foil acrylic signs and hanging bistro lights added to the glamorous yet rustic ambiance. Even the bride herself looks like a dream in an off the shoulder Milla Nova wedding dress from Bridal Beginning. Out-of-this-world amazing and bound to have you day dreaming, this wedding was divinely captured by Dawn Derbyshire Photography.
About the Couple
Chris and I met through our best friends! We didn’t start hanging out or dating for a few months but eventually we ended up together!
We were home in Pittsburgh for a weekend of our siblings’ baby showers and to see the Lumineers (one of our favorite groups!). The day of the concert, Chris picked me up from my parents’ house and had flowers and a note on the front seat. It said we were going to take a walk down memory lane. He tried to play it off as being something for our upcoming dating anniversary. We drove around to places that were special to us – the street I lived on when I was in grad school at Pitt, Mario’s in Shadyside where we first met, and a bunch of other special spots. At each location, he had flowers and a card describing the memories and significance from that place. The final stop was the overlook in Schenley Park; we would often run together through the park and the overlook has a beautiful view of the city! He had one final card, asking me to marry him. Our friends were hiding in a car and took pictures and then came over to congratulate us! We then went to dinner at Smiling Banana Leaf – where we had our first date – and then to the concert!
About the Wedding
Our colors were navy, dusty rose, and copper with a celestial industrial style.
We were inspired by Chris’s last name (Urso, like Ursa Major and Minor) and we’re in Pittsburgh on the river! So we went with a celestial industrial feel. I’m sure no one will catch this but constellations are sort of like connections between stars and bridges are connections between land so it (sorta) ties together!
Favorite Moment
I wish we could pick one!! We were so grateful to have so many loved ones all together with us to celebrate (and the most gorgeous summer day!!).
