Classic details were seamlessly mixed with modern wedding day trends at Melissa and Steven’s wedding at the Sheraton Station Square. The pair wanted an elegant celebration that would complement the existing beauty of the hotel ballroom. To achieve that, a color palette of crisp navy blue and romantic burgundy was chosen and accented with flecks of gold for a subtle metallic touch. Julie James Design made sure red roses mixed with amaranthus, white hydrangeas, and blue thistle appeared in high and low centerpieces, the ceremony arch, and even the couple’s dog’s floral collars. Not only did their fur babies walk down the aisle too, but they also appeared in a custom cake topper that sat atop a floral painted wedding cake from Bethel Bakery. Devoted to You Events made sure every detail – including the bride’s handmade signs and place cards – were picture perfect. Speaking of pictures, Megan Lee Photography captured the couple’s day so beautifully, as did Traveling Heart Productions. Just keep scrolling and see for yourself!
About the Couple
We met at college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A mutual friend introduced us and the rest is history.
We got engaged November 10, 2018 at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden. It was a pretty cold day and Steven wanted to do it while we were alone. When we went outside to the coy pond and bonsai garden, he got down on one knee. It was very special; no one was around and it was a moment we could celebrate together. I have to admit – it was super weird walking around after since I was so excited and not one person around us knew what had just happened!
About the Wedding
It was very classic, simple, and elegant. Our colors were burgundy, navy, and hints of gold. All signs and place cards were made by me; I tried and be very creative and made a lot of stuff for our wedding. I absolutely loved our cake. It was so beautifully constructed by Bethel Bakery and, of course, we had to incorporate our dogs as the topper. Julie James Design really brought the room together and I don’t think it really needed much more.
Favorite Moment
We loved having all our friends and families together. I’m from NY, so a lot of people traveled from all over. It was amazing to have everyone together for one day to celebrate us. We didn’t have a crazy big wedding – just about 100 people. It was so perfect and everything I dreamed it would be; it was the best day of my life! We made a little weekend out of it too and had a welcome party on Friday night for all who arrived. Saturday was the wedding and on Sunday, we hosted a brunch for everyone. It was amazing to spend all this time with everyone.
