Burgh Brides came to party like it’s 1999 for a Mid-Season Soiree celebrating event industry professionals – and to treat all our friends to a night out! Like a true MTV music countdown, this party topped the charts.
To create an evening steeped in nostalgia, we welcomed vendors and guests to The Plaza at the North Shore, a space designed to bring people together. Inspired by those perfect summer nights when someone dragged a boombox to the end of their driveway, the ice cream truck rolled through your neighborhood, and everyone stayed out until the streetlights came on, this block party was, without a doubt, one of the most fun nights we’ve had all summer.
The party quickly transformed from a networking event into a welcoming space to celebrate one another. It was an opportunity to step away from packed calendars and meticulously planned timelines, embrace our inner ’90s child, and simply enjoy being together.

The 1978 Collection created an aesthetic centered on bright colors and nostalgic ’90s details. Think: cassette tapes, Blockbuster Video, and your best friend’s ’90s bedroom. Rather than traditional floral arrangements, tables were styled with ’90s board games like Trouble and Perfection, along with assembled LEGO sets, Troll Dolls, hacky sacks, and clever signage by Loree Mayer Design that paid homage to the best decade.

Creating new connections felt effortless, thanks to an atmosphere that genuinely felt like a neighborhood block party – because it was! Entertainment provided by The Alt Rocks included performances of the best alternative and rock hits of ’90s radio. While the band played, a montage of 90s TV and music video clips – put together by Harris Event Group – was shown behind them. Rewind The Moment offered camcorders for guests to film their friends, fellow vendors, or themselves – capturing all those behind-the-scenes moments. SugarBird served fried chicken sliders, the perfect lead-in to a candy bar buffet from Bella Christie’s Sweet Boutique, stocked with everything from Airheads and Pixy Stix to candy necklaces. Trinket collections created instant moments of connection, with more than one guest commenting, “I used to have that!” Name tags included interactive prompts like “my AOL screen name was…” and “my worst 90’s fashion decision was…” to make meeting new friends even easier.
It was the perfect night to kick back, let loose, and embrace the easygoing nature of a summer spent hanging out in the backyard with your closest neighbors and friends. And in the spirit of inclusivity – and that neighborhood feel that Pittsburgh does so well – the night was a reminder that we’re better when we come together.
