Bridal Showers & Interactive Floral Moments Your Guests Will Love

by Burgh Brides September 11, 2025

Flowers aren’t just for pretty displays anymore – they’ve become an interactive experience that guests truly love! One of our favorite wedding trends for 2025 is interactive flower bars – perfect for bridal showers and bachelorette parties, where guests can create their own colorful keepsakes.

With over a decade of creating unique floral moments for couples in Pittsburgh, Holly Hanna Floral naturally extends her design expertise from weddings to home and lifestyle florals. We asked Holly everything you’ll need to know to guide you through hosting your own interactive floral event.

With a little preparation, hosting a floral bar can be a standout moment that everyone will enjoy – and talk about – long after the event. And did you know you can hire a florist like Holly to help? That means expertly curated floral selections, professional guidance, all the tools you’ll need, and a seamless, curated, Insta-worthy experience.

“When we work with flowers, we connect not only with nature but with each other, sharing in the joy of creation and beauty,” Holly explains. “I treat every Holly Hanna Floral client with the same care, attention, and love as the flowers blooming in my designs. My goal is to connect others with the beauty and power of flowers – that’s the centerpiece of my work.”

Read on for our interview with Holly, packed with expert tips to pull off a successful interactive floral party – and learn how you can score 10% off your Bridal Shower or Pre-Wedding Event Floral Package with Holly Hanna Floral.

What are your tips for pulling off a successful interactive floral event?

Interactive floral stations – like flower bars at bridal showers – aren’t just beautiful; they’re memorable and engaging! Whether you’re planning a hands-on bouquet-making station or a simple floral takeaway experience, a little planning goes a long way. Here are my top tips to help you pull it off smoothly and stylishly:

1.) Start with your purpose.

Before anything else, decide what you want your guests to get out of the experience. Do you want them to create a keepsake they’ll treasure? Tap into their creativity? Or perhaps learn a new floral skill? Your overall goal will guide every decision – from the supplies you choose to how you style the setup.

2.) Decide how interactive you want it to be.

Consider how involved you want your guests to be. Will it be a fully DIY station with simple signage and instructions? Or would you prefer to have someone (like a florist or helper) there to guide the process and manage the flow? Clarifying this upfront will help you plan the materials, layout, and the amount of time needed for the activity.

3.) Make the display both functional and beautiful.

Your setup should be both easy to use and visually pleasing. Make sure there’s enough table space for arranging, spots for supplies, and room for guests to move around comfortably. If the area feels cramped or confusing, it could cause delays or frustration. Aim for a layout that’s both functional and aesthetically inviting – form and function go hand in hand!

4.) Choose your materials wisely.

Fresh or faux? Both have their perks! Fresh flowers bring that wow factor – fragrance, texture, and beauty – but they can be messier and require more prep. Faux flowers, on the other hand, are cleaner, reusable, and easier to manage, though they may have a higher upfront cost. Consider your vibe, guest preferences, and budget when choosing the flowers. Either way, a thoughtful mix of textures, greenery, and colors will elevate the experience!

5.) Little things make the experience smooth and enjoyable.

To make your flower bar truly seamless, be sure to include these essentials:

  • Flower clippers or scissors for easy stem trimming
  • Waste bins for trimmings so everything stays tidy
  • Wrapping materials or small vases for guests to take home their creations
  • Clear signage with quick tips or bouquet-building inspiration to guide your guests

How can someone utilize a florist for an event like this?

Hiring a florist for your bridal shower or pre-wedding event can elevate the entire experience, especially when it comes to something as creative and visual as a flower bar. It allows the bride (and host) to fully enjoy the moment, knowing the experience is beautiful, professional, and totally taken care of. Here’s how a professional florist (like us at Holly Hanna Floral) can help:

Curated floral selection

A florist can hand-select a seasonal, cohesive mix of blooms and greenery that matches your theme, color palette, and event vibe. There’s no guesswork – just fresh, beautiful flowers your guests will love working with.

Styled setup & display

We know how to design a layout that flows well, looks stunning, and is easy to use. From buckets and vases to signage and styling elements, we bring everything together to create a seamless, Instagram-worthy experience.

Expert guidance (or full service staffing!)

Some brides prefer a fully-staffed experience where a florist is on-site to assist guests, give arranging tips, and keep things running smoothly. Others want a more DIY vibe with setup and clear instructions provided. We offer both, depending on your needs!

Supplies & tools

We take the stress out of gathering supplies. From floral clippers to water tubes, bouquet wrap, and waste containers, we provide everything your guests need to create their arrangements with ease and joy.

Custom add-ons

Want to add name tags, custom signage, or personalized wrapping paper? A florist can help tie those little branding and design details into your overall event style, making it feel even more curated and intentional.

What’s the best way to source flowers for the party?

Hire a florist (best for a stress-free experience).

Working with a professional florist means we handle everything: sourcing, prepping, delivering, and even setting up your flower bar. You’ll get fresh, high-quality blooms that match your theme – and you won’t have to lift a finger.

Buy bulk flowers from a florist or flower farm.

Many florists or local flower farms offer “DIY flower buckets” with a curated mix of seasonal blooms. It’s a great middle-ground option: more affordable than full service, but still high quality. Just be prepared to prep and style the bar yourself.

Shop local flower markets or grocery stores.

Places like Trader Joe’s, Costco, or a farmers market can be convenient and cost-effective. Keep in mind: selection is limited, flowers may not be conditioned, and you’ll need to plan ahead for storage, trimming, and arranging.

Use faux or dried flowers.

These are mess-free and easy to prep in advance. Faux and dried flowers are perfect for a keepsake-style bar and don’t require water or cleanup, but they can cost more upfront.

Do you have any tips on prepping florals and greenery?

If you’re hosting a DIY flower bar or floral activity, properly preparing your flowers and greenery ahead of time is key to keeping them fresh and easy to work with. Start by trimming each stem at a 45° angle to help the flowers absorb water more efficiently. Be sure to remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline to prevent bacteria from growing. Place your blooms in clean buckets or vases filled with cool water, and let them hydrate for at least 4 – 12 hours – ideally overnight. Store them in a cool area out of direct sunlight to keep them from wilting. If you have flower food, add it to the water to help extend the life of your arrangements.

What are the current floral bar trends you are loving right now?

In 2025, I’m loving how floral experiences at bridal showers are shifting toward bold colors, sustainable practices, and unique designs. Flower bars are no longer just a display – they’ve become an interactive experience where guests can get creative and craft their own arrangements. The vibrant color palettes allow for endless creativity, and minimalist floral designs bring a fresh, elegant touch.

One trend I’m particularly excited about is the incorporation of fruits and vegetables into flower bar displays, creating beautiful, sustainable centerpieces. The ability to personalize flowers with special meaning makes each bouquet unique and memorable, and I’m loving how this trend adds such a personal touch to every event. It’s all about making these floral experiences not only visually stunning but also meaningful and fun for everyone involved!

As a florist, is there anything else you would add or like to share about hosting a party with a floral bar?

Hosting a flower bar at an event like a bridal shower is such a fun way to bring people together and create something beautiful. It’s a unique way to connect with guests and offer them a hands-on, memorable experience, all while adding a personal and creative touch to the celebration!

At Holly Hanna Floral, our goal is to help people connect with flowers in a way that deepens their appreciation for nature and brings them closer to one another. Flowers have a special ability to ground us, allowing us to slow down and be present in the moment. When we work with flowers, we connect not only with nature, but with each other, sharing in the joy of creation and beauty. The act of arranging blooms together fosters a sense of collaboration and connection, turning any event into something more meaningful. Whether it’s the tactile experience of handling the flowers, the visual impact of their colors, or the shared creativity, flowers have a magical way of uniting people. At Holly Hanna Floral we believe that flowers are more than just decor – they are a bridge that helps create unforgettable moments and lasting connections.
