This wedding at Sparrow Hill Venue is the prettiest blend of boho vibes and a touch of glitz and glam. Inspired by her love of gems and geodes, Julia chose a color palette of jewel tones. Teal, burgundy, navy, plum, and hunter green came together beautifully and were accentuated with pops of gold for a regal, rich look. It was the perfect scheme for this late September celebration as the couple and their guests embraced the transition of seasons. After their outdoor ceremony and some pretty picturesque portraits with Josh + Jeanette, the party headed indoors to the rustic style pavilion where guests were greeted by DIY touches, geometric elements, and a custom neon sign bearing the couple’s initials. After a few hours on the dance floor, the couple closed out the night with an epic sparkler send-off. This feature is a little bit casual and a little bit upscale, which is a winning combination in our books.

About the Couple
Justin and I met in high school and the first time we ever spoke to each other was at homecoming. We both loved sports and the Beatles, however personality-wise, we are complete opposites. Who says Leos and Pisces can’t make it work?!
On October 1, 2020, he took me to the Allegheny Grille in Foxburg, a new place for us. The restaurant is right next to the Allegheny River. After dinner, we walked around and took in the beautiful fall scenery. We reached the edge of a small hill with the water beneath us next to some beautiful trees. He told me to go in front of him so he can take a picture of me by the river. When I turned around, he was down on one knee. I was so shocked that I almost fell backwards down the hill and into the water; he had to spring forward and catch me! We ended up laughing through the whole thing!

About the Wedding
It was difficult placing an exact theme on our wedding, but I knew I wanted it to have a more natural, laid-back feel with a touch of glitz. I would call it boho glam. The most important part of my wedding style was the colors and flowers. I went for jewel tones: dark teal, burgundy, navy, plum, and dark greens, with pops of white and gold, based on my love for gems and geodes. I’ve never seen these colors used in weddings, so I thought that it would make ours stand out and they would be perfect for a transitional season wedding. I felt that the most unique part of our wedding was that I did all of the table decor myself, and made my own open geometric flower holders rather than buying terrariums.

Favorite Moment
Our favorite part of the day had to be our wedding party entrances into the reception. Seeing all of our friends go in and have so much fun being recognized was hilarious. Walking in ourselves, seeing how many people were there to cheer for us and congratulate us, was truly amazing. It was the most fun, special moment and we really felt all the love in the room.
