Take cover and prepare yourself for some truth bombs! We’re sharing some FACTS about your wedding. While you may have heard some of these, they are worthy of a reminder. For those tips that are new, you can thank us later. Either way, they’ll make planning your big day a little bit easier. After you’re done reading these, head to this recent post where we debunk some common wedding myths!
You may experience wedding planning burnout.
No matter how much times passes between “Will you marry me?” and “I do,” there will come a point where you just.want.to.be.married. Planning a wedding is fun…to an extent. After that, it’s just sort of a nightmare. So many decisions to make, so much money to spend, so many little things to worry about. Luckily, all of the stress has an expiration date. Then, the real fun (I.E. marriage!) begins!
Hiring the right vendors is so important.
We cannot stress this enough. Finding those Pittsburgh wedding vendors with whom you mesh well and who totally get the vision for your day will make a world of a difference. Go with those vendors who you actually like as people (because you’ll be spending a lot of time with them), who know exactly what you want, and who can execute it well. Just because a friend used this photographer or that DJ doesn’t mean they are the right people for you. Do your homework, don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions, and trust your gut. And when all else fails, review our post on what to consider when hiring your wedding vendors!
You probably won’t get to eat dinner at your reception.
We hope you had a hearty breakfast or lunch because you’ll be lucky if you get to take a few uninterrupted bites of your dinner. Between saying hi to guests, talking with friends, and kissing every time a fork touches a glass, you’ll be pulled in a thousand different directions. Nobody likes a hangry newlywed, so make a point of sitting down and enjoying that meal together. Stay in your chair and let people come to you if they want to say hi. Bonus points go out to any caterer who will packs up your leftovers for you! Trust us…you’ll be famished around midnight!
It will be the only time all of your friends and family are in the same place at the same time.
Think about that for a minute. There will likely never be another time when ALL of your loved ones are together. It’s a little sad if you think about it. That’s why you need to enjoy that heck out of that one evening. Stop, take deep breaths, look around you, commit the smiling faces to memory, and enjoy every single last moment of that day.
It will fly by.
Oh gosh, will it ever. Twelve plus hours seems like a long time but it will be the fastest day of your life (which is why we’re all for turning weddings into weekend long celebrations!). Before you know it, your DJ will be playing that last dance song even though it will seem like you only slipped into that wedding dress mere moments before. As your head hits the pillow at the end of the night, you’ll wonder how in the heck the day went by so quickly!
