What’s one of the hottest trends these days? Hosting a small wedding! Huge celebrations with hundreds of people and all the bells and whistles won’t go away forever (and we still love them!). But intimate shindigs with a focus on people and what matters most are more popular than ever before (thanks COVID!). If you just can’t wait to say “I do” or if you just can’t imagine all of the stress and hoopla of a big thing, Lauren, the owner of PointBreezeway and the hostest with the mostest, is sharing a few reasons why you might want to keep your guest list small!
From Lauren…
Hello Burgh Brides! My name is Lauren and I am the owner of PointBreezeway, an urban barn in the Burgh. I converted my childhood home into a pretty amazing little venue with the hopes of preserving its rich history of a utility barn (circa 1880), tavern, speakeasy, tea room, and ultimately my family home for over 25 years. It is an absolute privilege to share something so special. PointBreezeway is a match made in heaven for low-key celebrators and lovers of old-world charm, everything vintage, historic, and eclectic. Since opening PointBreezeway, I’ve discovered lots of reasons why small weddings are the way to go. Here are my top four!
1.) You can choose a unique location.
This one is probably my favorite things about small weddings. Hosting an intimate celebration opens up a world of possibility with the venues from which you can choose. You could probably get married in your favorite coffee shop if you really wanted to! Give your guests something to talk about. Different equals beautiful!

2.) The intimacy is unmatched.
It’s your thing. Do what you wanna do. (Parents are probably giving me the evil eye right now.) If you only want to invite your closest, most awesome people, do it. Love them. Be married with them. Share a night of cozy togetherness and hearty laughter with them.

3.) Your wedding budget will thank you.
Small weddings are all about creative effort and that’s what makes them so perfect! When your guest list is small, your expenses are too. You can easily have a beautiful wedding for less. The key is finding spaces that are charming and ready to go, allowing you to focus on the food, drink, and the little extras. I’ve hosted weddings that have served their favorite beer and pizza or brunch spread, hired a photographer, and picked up their florals beforehand. The evening was a spectacular dream come true.

4.) There is beauty in simplicity.
When great changes are about to happen, you want to feel as calm and healthy as you can. Mentally. Physically. Emotionally. Am I right? The more simplicity that can be added to the start of a marriage, the better. When you choose to celebrate small with a big focus on what is truly important…well, the only other thing you really need is love!

Well I really wanted a small wedding with just immediate family, however… That is not happening AT ALL as my family and his family are pretty big. I mean, I have at least if not more 40 first cousins alone…. Yep. But I have yet to send out the invitations yet because it’s a little overwhelming! HA!
Ha! Weddings, big or small, can be overwhelming! But a big wedding is awesome too! Either way, it will be such an incredible day I’m sure!
