Launched in 2014, Burgh Brides is an online wedding publication that highlights the most inspiring celebrations that Pittsburgh has to offer. The uniquely romantic ceremonies and photo shoots featured on the site provide endless inspiration to local couples who want to work with awesome vendors to plan their own swoon-worthy events. In 2018, Burgh Brides was named one of the top wedding blogs to follow by Blueprint Registry and was it crowned one of the best local blogs by Pittsburgh City Paper in 2019.
“Burgh Brides has allowed me to ask questions, given me so many answers, and helped me with planning the wedding of my dreams.”
“It’s hard to plan a wedding in a city in which you don’t live. But Burgh Brides gives me suggestions since I can’t be there to scope it out myself!”
“Burgh Brides has brought vendors into the spotlight that I wouldn’t have found on my own. It’s saved me so much time!”
Hi! I’m Victoria.
Get to know me in 150 characters or less:
When in doubt, add glitter. Everything in moderation, except TV, cupcakes, and fresh office supplies. Weddings. Lots and lots of weddings.
If that piqued your interest, keep on reading for the details.
My childhood fascination with weddings has withstood the test of time. Just ask my little sister and younger cousin. They belted out “Here Comes the Bride,” while I donned my great grandmother’s old dress and glided down the hall-turned-aisle. Many years later, I glided across a stage to accept my Neuroscience bachelor’s degree. Then, I promptly informed my parents that I wanted to become an event planner.
You can probably imagine their reactions, but I’ve been in the wedding and event industry in one way or another ever since. I even started my own wedding planning company, before I realized that my ultimate passion was in sharing ideas and writing. Burgh Brides is the long-envisioned marriage of those two interests. In September 2017, I became a full-time blogger, and it’s the best. job. ever. I’m a published Huffington Post author and have contributed to numerous articles and blog posts by Pittsburgh Magazine, Retail Me Not, Honeybook, and several other wedding and industry websites.
As if that career love story isn’t magical enough, I’ve also managed to find two great loves in my personal life. I replaced teddy bear grooms with my very real, totally not imaginary husband Justin. He’s a handsome tech wiz and a wannabe pro mountain biker. The second love of my life was discovered in 2019 in the form of our son, Coen. Together, we enjoy living that suburb life in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
Teamwork makes the dream work.
Hi! I’m Alyssa.
Coffee lover, dark chocolate fanatic, wedding obsessed, wanderlust enthusiast, and Burgh Brides content creator/Pinterest guru/helpful assistant/cheerleader.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA my love for content creation began back in high school as Yearbook editor-in-chief. Combine that with my fascination for all things wedding related and you could say this is my absolute dream job. I can spend hours looking at all the details – wedding dresses, candid wedding photos, and perfectly placed flower arrangements just make my heart so happy! After blogging personally for years, when the opportunity came to start doing work for Burgh Brides, it was a match made in heaven.
I recently took a walk down the aisle as a bride myself and utilized Burgh Brides for vendors who all did an incredible job. If there was one day I would relive over and over again, it would for sure be that one!
Since then, I’ve swapped Pittsburghese for some Irish slang as I’m now on a new adventure with my hubby, living abroad in Dublin, Ireland for the next two years. I’m so happy that I can be a part of Burgh Brides and still feel a part of the ‘burgh… even when I am miles away!
In my free time, you can find me sipping on a chai tea latte at a local coffee shop, crossing another country off the travel bucket list, enjoying a run, or taking a stroll through the city.
