Tell me a little bit about your company!
Growing up, designing was my passion. That sounds kind of cliche, but I was the neighborhood kid with her own newsletter that I designed on my parent's old computer. I was always looking for a reason to celebrate or design. Now, I'm all grown up and I'm still always looking for reasons to throw confetti and design a great invitation.
When my husband, Ben, proposed to me, I noticed that there was a huge gap in the design industry when it came to wedding stationery. Nothing felt personalized or custom to us and I was frustrated at the lack of options available. Because of my design background, I decided to design my own wedding stationery. Starting in 2008, I shifted my focus to designing wedding stationery instead of print design and from there Blush was born.
What makes your work unique? Why should brides and grooms hire you?
We think that your wedding paper should reflect your personality and event. So before we get started, we want to get to know you! Let’s meet over a cup of coffee and figure out what stationery pieces you’ll need to create a wedding suite that’s as awesome as you are. We listen to your vision and design the wedding stationery of your dreams. We’re like the fairy godmothers of paper. 🙂
What is your approach to design?
We focus on playful and pretty patterns, clean lines, and we enjoy taking risks, while combining vintage design with unexpected pops of color.
Do couples choose from design templates or can you customize one based on their tastes?
We know you’re one of a kind, and so are our custom wedding invitations. We have a collection of pre-designed invitations that you can choose from, but every single element is ready to be personalized with your colors, font selection, and personal taste. That’s why every single wedding invitation that we design and print is unique. Because our wedding invitations are easily customizable, we are able to work within all sorts of budgets! We have lots of creative ways to help you keep costs down. We're armed with paper swatches and samples, and will guide you through the entire process: but be ready to be able to choose your own print method, paper selection, change fonts and colors, and even switch the orientation of your invitations.
What is the proofing process like?
We send digital proofs during the proofing phase, so you’ll be able to make suggestions and provide feedback. We are excited to hear your feedback and are happy to make any suggestions to help you along the way. We include one complimentary flat printing hard copy proof with every order, including your letterpress or foil jobs. If you'd like to see a physical proof of with the letterpress or foil job applied, plate fees do apply.
What is the typical turn-around time?
You can expect the entire design-to-production-to invitations in hand process to take roughly 6 – 8 weeks, depending upon your print method and wedding date. We set up a personalized timeline and schedule for you to look over before we begin the design phase. We like to allow one full month for the design and proofing stage though, before we send files to production. Letterpress and foiling takes roughly three weeks to produce, while flat printing is in the two week production range. Once complete, your paper goods are shipped Fed Ex overnight!
