Tell me a little bit about your business!
Tyler Norman Photography was started in 2010. My wife, Chrissy, joined the team in 2015 and together we love everything weddings! It is not unheard of for us to help with planning, addressing envelopes for our amazing clients, and just making for an all-around amazing experience. We strongly believe in building a relationship with everyone we photograph. By letting us into your lives, we are able to truly create images that capture everything that makes you such an awesome couple! We love timeless, romantic, real, and – above all else – FUN photography.
What makes your work unique? Why should brides and grooms hire you?
When working with Tyler Norman Photography, you don't just get a photographer but you get a friend. When we become friends, we reach a level of relationship that you do not get with your other vendors. We are the ones that you know you can come to for anything before, during, and after your wedding. With such an awesome relationship, it makes photographing you that much more fun! We learn the funny quirks that make you both smile, we know the super stupid dad jokes that have you crying because you're laughing so hard, and we can truly capture what makes your relationship so AWESOME.
We also strive to shoot everything with a different point of view. While we do have a distinct style, we never want to give one client something we already gave another. We want to make every shoot feel original and unique to the couple we are working with.
What is your ideal client like?
Our ideal couple is fun, adventurous, energetic, over the moon in love, and not afraid to show it! This is your time to shine and celebrate your love!
Why do you shoot weddings?
You would be surprised but NO ONE asks this. Photographing weddings is the best of all photography worlds. I specialize in portraiture. Typically, the whole day is a whirlwind so you have to be on your toes and ready for anything, which is a huge photojournalistic aspect. The bridal portraits and bride and groom portraits can easily get very editorial! You truly get a taste of everything on a wedding day and that is something we love.
How would you describe your photography style?
Contrasting, vibrant, bright, natural, real, and FUN
What techniques do you use to help clients feel comfortable with you and in front of the camera?
It all starts with the initial meeting. Pick somewhere fun. Starbucks is BORING. Go out to dinner, grab a drink or a beer, walk in the park. Sometimes just sitting at a table staring at each other can get really awkward, really quickly. When I meet with a couple, I actually try not to talk about photography or the wedding for the first 5 – 10 minutes of the meeting. We learn about each other. Our fur babies, TV shows we watch, family, etc. This just makes them feel more relaxed all the way through the wedding. When I shoot, we do the same thing. Just talk and have a good time. I always guide my couple with easy poses and some go-to things they can do if they feel “lost.” Before they know it, I am not even telling them what to do. I always tell my clients to treat our shoot as a date that just happens to have me along on it. I also have a ton of super terrible dad jokes that get them laughing and feeling more relaxed.
What emotions do you think your images evoke?
Excitement, joy, trust, love, surprise
What is your approach to editing? What is the typical turn-around time for images?
My editing is very simple and clean. I do not want to add or take away from images when editing. I want you to remember the moment just like it happened. Engagement turn-around time is approximately 2 – 3 weeks and weddings are approximately 4 – 6.
What other items do you offer?
We offer prints and albums. We like to keep it simple and easy. We do strongly believe in printing your photos and having tangible memories. We live in a digital age and it is easy to forget to print your photographs.
