Let's be honest…the best part about a wedding day is the reception. Everyone loves a good party, and Modern Era Weddings know how to throw one. This boutique business touts itself as the premier wedding DJ and music company in Pittsburgh, and I'd be the first to agree with them. The folks at Modern Era aren't your average wedding DJs…no terrible, overplayed or outdated songs, no cheesy announcements, and no dancing lessons. Instead, they'll use their mixing style of DJing to craft a wedding day playlist that is seamless, energetic, and fun. With an array of talented DJs to choose from, you're bound to find one that fits your tastes perfectly. Live musician more your style? From strings at the ceremony or an acoustic guitarist during the cocktail hour or even an 8 piece band that plays all night long, Modern Era will make sure your guests are well entertained. You'll be in good hands with their cutting edge approach to music and personal commitment to making your wedding day epic. A good party is almost a guarantee.
Tell me a little bit about your company!
Modern Era has been around since 2009. When we originally opened, we were only offering DJs and lighting. Seven years later, we now offer a variety of services including entertainment, photography, videography, photobooths, and lighting.
What makes your work unique? Why should brides and grooms hire you?
At Modern Era, we strive for excellence. Our award winning DJs provide the best in skills and customer service through their years of both nightclub and wedding experience.
We are mixing style DJs, which provides you with a more fluid transition through the different genres that you and your fiance custom select for us to play.
We offer our years of experience to the planning stage of your reception, as well as helping with timeline planning and song selection whenever needed.
What is your ideal client like?
We love working with high energy, fun-loving couples that want to dance all night!
How do you get to know your client's taste in music?
Once a couple has chosen which DJ they'd like to meet, they schedule time to get to know each other either in a meeting at our Southside office, or through Face Time/Skype.
How do you motivate guests to get on the dance floor and bust some moves?
It’s all about the music and knowing your crowd. We always try to pre-plan with our couples to start the night with an already packed floor, and then plan to keep them there the rest of the evening!
How would you describe your emcee style?
We try to stay away from the jokes of yesteryear and focus on an exciting series of bridal introductions, while clearly informing the crowd with details needed to usher them through the event. These are based off of our couple's timeline and personal requests.
